AS PART of efforts to build up Singapore- Oman relations, the Singapore Press Club earlier this year organised a visit to the country. The trip included visits to historical and tourist sites, government ministries and offices, Muscat's Royal Opera House and developmental projects and meetings with government officials.

Highlights in Oman included a visit to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque with its modern Islamic architecture, as well as a spectacular dhow cruise. The club members also had an opportunity to have a dinner meeting with journalists and representatives of various media organisations in Oman.

At the office of the Special Economic Zone Authority at Duqm (Sezad) the visitors were received by chairman Yahya Bin Said Al Jabri. The zone aims to follow Singapore's style of managing industrial zones. It is managed by Singaporean CEO Lee Chee Khian, who used to work for JTC.
