Najib: Malaysia needs new law to counter risks posed by ISIS

Kuala Lumpur

THE growing risk posed by returning Malaysians allied to the Islamic State for Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and proselytising its cause locally has prompted the Malaysian government to propose a new law to counter this specific threat.

Existing anti-terrorism laws such as the Security Offences Act and the Prevention of Crime Act will also be tightened.
