A NEW entry into the Singapore Book of Records for the longest piano performance has been made, as a total of about 13 hours was clocked by musicians coming together to play the piano for charity.

Last Saturday, more than 120 musicians, aged between four and 54, played more than 200 works at Steinway Gallery Singapore's Piano Marathon 2017@ION Orchard, a fund-raising event for The Business Times Budding Artists Fund (BT BAF), which provides arts training to children and teenagers from financially disadvantaged families.

The event raised close to S$17,500, which came from participants' registrations and donations from seven organisations and individuals.

The donors include Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, APEX Private Wealth Management, Oakwood Studios Singapore, and American Express.

The event marked Steinway Gallery Singapore's inaugural community engagement programme as well as a fund-raiser for charity on such a scale in Asia.
