IF YOU have S$256,999 to spend on fashion you can look very good indeed, for that gets you into the driver's seat of the all-new Range Rover Evoque.

The Evoque may be a sport utility vehicle (SUV), but it's also solid proof that style sells, given that the first-generation model managed to shift nearly 800,000 units worldwide during its eight-year production run.

Its target market is clearly the Instagram generation, mostly singles or young couples with perhaps a small kid or two, for whom the Evoque's cramped rear seats are an acceptable trade-off for the swoopy rear roofline that evokes (no pun intended) a sense of coupe-like sportiness, mixed with SUV-style ruggedness.

It's no surprise then that Land Rover has opted to stick with a winning formula with the second-generation Evoque, retaining the same sense of style that has made it such a huge success. At first glance, one would be hard-pressed to tell the new car apart from the old one, and perhaps only a seasoned car spotter would note the slimmer lights as well as the nifty pop-out door handles, a trait borrowed from the Evoque's bigger brothe…
