Trying to do the right thing
A MOST Violent Year charts a few crucial weeks in the life of Abel Morales (Oscar Isaac), the ambitious young owner of a heating oil company in New York City who is plotting to take his business to the next level. He's likely to step on some toes on the way up but is convinced that his way of doing things - thorough, methodical and (for the most part) honest - will win market share and make believers of his many doubters.
The year in question is 1981 and Abel is betting his life savings and more on a riverfront facility that will make him a major player in the industry - but he only has a month to close the deal and he is under pressure from all sides.
