Adventure calls for Tag Heuer’s Aquaracer

The new watch is the perfect travel companion.

TAG Heuer's new "bold, dynamic" Aquaracer Professional 200 Series is touted as "fit for ice climbing and speed flying" - and designed for the "go-anywhere spirit of exploration". To seal the message, a compass is even engraved on the watch's case-back.

Sounds like just the right accessory for that long-delayed adventure holiday, now that Covid curbs are out of the way.

The visuals for this watch show speed flying, ice skiing and ice climbing sports, with athletes putting the watch through its paces in some of the world's wildest natural locations.

A time-tested model, the 200 started out in 1978 as the Heuer Reference 844, a unisex watch for outdoor sports and adventure. The model has since grown into a high-performance category of versatile wristwatches for extreme conditions.

Though the Aquaracer name was added only in 2004, the series from the start has embraced 6 features: a unidirectional rotating bezel; a screw-down crown; water resistance to at least 200 metres, luminous markings; a sapphire crystal; and a double safety clasp. And the watches have passed rigorous tests to prove they are accurate, reliable and tough enough to deliver performance under pressure.

The new Aquaracer Professional 200 is slimmer than previous models, giving it a sleeker silhouette and slender profile. Built to be even more sophisticated and durable, it has 11 references in 30 mm or 40 mm width, and powered by automatic or quartz movements.

Not among the 11 references, it's everything the Aquaracer Professional 200 is, except that it's powered by the sun.

The watch doesn't need a change of battery; it recharges with the sun or artificial light. Only two minutes in full sunlight and the watch can run the whole day. When fully charged - after less than 20 hours under the sun - it can keep ticking for 6 months. The sun also makes the luminous elements of the watch extra bright, which is perfect for night sports.

For travellers seeking more extreme adventures like deep sea diving, this is the ultimate dive watch that can go over 1000 metres deep. The 15.75 mm thick timepiece made of titanium is sufficiently robust to take the extreme pressure of the deep, but not so chunky as to diminish its elegance.

The SuperDiver is equipped with a helium escape valve to protect the watch in saturation diving - diving in the deepest depths (200 to 500 m), allowed only for professionals.  A substantial crown prevents water seeping into the movement, which is produced by the renowned movement maker Kenissi.

A large 45 mm case, imposing and sizable hour indicator and orange hands - all generously coated with the highest grade of Super-LumiNova - make it easy to read the time.
