Manhattan Sensation
Founded in 1969, jazz vocal group The Manhattan Transfer certainly deserves a medal for longevity. It has some 30 albums under its belt along with a shelf-full of Grammy trophies and other awards. It celebrates its 50th anniversary this year with a concert at the Esplanade as part of the latter's Mosaic music series.
Although original member Tim Hauser passed on in 2014, the remaining three members Janis Siegel, Alan Paul and Cheryl Bentyne, together with Hauser's replacement Trist Curless, continue the group's legacy of great pop and jazz hits, sung with unique arrangements.
The Manhattan Transfer last performed in Singapore in 2011, also at the Esplanade's Mosaic series. It swept audiences off their feet then, and there's no reason not to expect them to do the same again.
