Baking Christmas cookies is a Westnedge tradition that John Westnedge still maintains ever since he was a child growing up in the US. Everyone in the family, including their helper, gets involved making cookies, which are handed out to visitors.

Gingerbread men and butter cookies are the usual flavours, but this year they are also handing out snowball cookies, which are a big hit with children. ''We spend every weekend making them because we can give out 400 cookies a week,'' says Mr Westnedge.
