Walking Gourmet
Japan is known for its cuisine and its onsens, so how about a holiday that lets you experience the best of both? Travel company, Walk Japan, is launching a new series of Onsen Gastronomy tours to Gifu and Nagano in October, and to Oita and Kumamoto in November.
Each day, participants cover 6 to 8 kms on foot, over easy terrain with ample time to savour the beauty of the Japanese countryside, and also visit local sites of interest.
Apart from the exercise, you get to savour the quiet rural landscape, visit small villages, and indulge in seasonal produce. And of course, at the end of the day, check into local inns to soak away any soreness and relax in a private hot spring. Each tour fits 12 guests at most, and we hear spots are going fast.
