THERE'S this owner of a roast meat stall in Tiong Bahru who's moving out because her landlord jacked up her rent by a good 50 per cent. She can't just stay put and raise prices, she says, because Singaporeans are this weird breed who will happily pay $6 for a slice of cake, but baulk if they have to pay an extra 20 cents for a plate of char siew rice.
