The road to the future: talking cars and more at Tokyo show
As carmakers figure out a roadmap for an uncertain future, could artificial intelligence create emotion-sensing cars that people fall in love with?
Tokyo, Japan
THE Tokyo Motor Show opened its doors to the public on Thursday, with Japan's leading carmakers presenting bold concept cars that represent their vision of tomorrow's motoring. The event closes on Nov 5, and organisers expect a larger turnout than the previous show in 2015 achieved, when 812,500 people walked through the doors.
Behind the flashy prototypes at the event lie the hopes of an industry trying to navigate disruption from ride-hailing services and upstart carmakers such as Tesla Motors, the Electric Vehicle (EV) specialist.
