    Jean-Michel Jarre: Oxygene 3

You can't accuse French musician Jean-Michel Jarre of rushing things - it's been 40 years since Oxgene 1 was released, and 20 years since Oxygene 2. A long time between Oxygenes then, but thankfully this third instalment that was released late last year has stayed faithful to the best-selling original, nicely rounding off a masterful synth trilogy that should also appeal to electronica fans of all persuasions.

Recorded in just six weeks so as to be consistent with the time-constrained original production, Oxygene 3 employs synthesisers, sequencers and percussive clicks to provide the momentum, with the occasional church organ and choir thrown in for good effect. In an interview with the UK's Prog magazine, Mr Jarre said: "Oxygene is not so much a series of songs with separate titles, it's more of an overall concept, like a movie or series of short stories."
