Switch from PMDs to PABs may not root out problems if bad habits persist

WHEN the end came, it was swift and the difference it made on the ground was immediately felt.

On Nov 5, Singapore residents woke up to streets that were largely devoid of the ubiquitous e-scooters and e-bikes following an overnight ban on personal mobility devices (PMDs) from footpaths.

The change has been welcomed by most, from pedestrians who have had to live with the fear of being run down by riders to motorists who have had to approach road junctions with trepidation due to the propensity of PMD riders to zip rapidly across pedestrian and signalised crossings.
