Can anyone thwart Clinton's bid for the party nomination?

She is still dogged by 'e-mailgate' and her campaign events have had poor turnouts, but pundits are betting on Mrs Clinton becoming the Democrats' presidential candidate

WHEN Hillary Clinton announced in 2007 via her website the formation of an exploratory committee for the 2008 United States presidential election, stating "I'm in, and I'm in to win", the political experts predicted that with her name recognition, money and momentum - you only needed to check the results of the latest public opinion poll - no other Democrat would have been able to challenge her for the nomination. She was the "presumptive" Democratic presidential candidate.

So it was, for a while, déjà vu to hear her announce her run for the presidency early this year. Like a scene from the film Groundhog Day, the pundits insisted that with her name recognition, money and momentum - you only need to check the results of the latest public opinion poll - no other Democrat would be able to challenge her for the nomination.

Yep. She was the "presumptive" Democratic presidential candidate.
