Not even a ghost of a chance hotel is haunted

THANK you for featuring the Grand Hyatt Taipei in The Business Times Weekend on Oct 14. I am pleased to hear that your journalist, Jaime Ee, enjoyed her stay as a guest of our hotel.

While we would never presume to intrude upon your editorial integrity, we do think that the headline that appeared in the printed version of the story ("A Taiwanese Ghost Story") was misleading - particularly considering that the story is more a non-ghost story than a ghost story, and since many people often read no further than the headline.

As the article notes, some travellers from Singapore and Hong Kong are easily swayed by such rumours and we are concerned that the BT story has not only perpetuated them, but also negatively impacted the hotel's reputation among Singaporeans - one of our key markets.
