Plunging yen fails to lift Japan's Aug exports

THE yen hit a new six-year low against the US dollar on Thursday and yet trade data for August released the same day showed a drop in Japanese exports for the month at a time when the rapidly weakening currency is supposed, in theory, to be providing a boost to overseas sales.
