New Zealand house prices rise in June, defy expectations

[WELLINGTON] New Zealand house prices continued to rise across the country in June, defying expectations that recent government measures may cool the market, the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (REINZ) said on Tuesday.

Seasonally adjusted nationwide media house values rose 1.0 per cent in June compared to the previous month and 28.2 per cent year-on-year, according to REINZ.

Prices in the country's biggest city, Auckland, rose 1.1 per cent in June over the previous month.
