Angry Birds keeps Rovio's nest warm while it diversifies

ROVIO Entertainment hopes it will one day soar beyond Angry Birds, but for now it plans to stay invested and focused on the product that made it rich.

The Finnish video game company was born in 2003, but it wasn't till 2009 that the company found its smash hit in Angry Birds: its 52nd game.

The puzzle game, initially released for iPhone, shot up the charts to first place within half a year. Then it stayed on the charts for months after, proving it wasn't a flash in the pan.

Today, Angry Birds has been downloaded more than a whopping two billion times - making it bigger than titles from other entertainment media like movies and music, pointed out Peter Vesterbacka, Rovio Entertainment's chief marketing...
