Hong Kong: Equities edge up at open

[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks opened marginally higher Thursday morning but gains were muted after a five-day rally and as investors digested Donald Trump's plan to overhaul the US tax system.

The Hang Seng Index edged up 9.97 points to 24,588.40.

But the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dipped 0.30 per cent, or 9.50 points, to 3,131.35 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, slid 0.25 per cent, or 4.77 points, to 1,885.02.
