Hong Kong, Shanghai: Stocks end lower

[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks ended the week with a sharp loss, tracking a sell-off across the region, as traders stepped back after recent gains.

The Hang Seng Index slipped 1.37 per cent, or 313.41 points, to close at 22,564.82.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.90 per cent, or 29.47 points, to 3,243.84 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, lost 1.66 per cent, or 35.20 points, to 2,084.49.
