Hong Kong: Stocks open higher on Wednesday


[HONG KONG] Hong Kong shares opened with gains on Wednesday, tracking a positive lead from Wall Street, while investors brushed off below-par Chinese manufacturing data.

The Hang Seng Index rose 0.78 per cent, or 191.59 points, to 24,777.12.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index was up 0.19 per cent, or 4.96 points, to 2,573.01, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, added 0.16 per cent, or 2.06 points, to 1,278.51.
