[HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks edged up Thursday on lingering hopes China and the United States will eventually reach an agreement to avert an all-out trade war.
The Hang Seng Index rose 0.26 per cent, or 70.30 points, to close at 27,477.67.
But the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.06 per cent, or 1.61 points, to 2,729.24, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, lost 0.22 per cent, or 3.20 points, to 1,420.02.
