Hong Kong: Stocks up 0.16% at open

[HONG KONG] Hong Kong shares rose 0.16 per cent in the first few minutes of trade on Wednesday ahead of a Federal Reserve policy meeting that dealers hope will provide clues about its timetable for raising interest rates.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index added 37.14 points to 23,938.63.

In mainland China the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edged up 0.11 per cent, or 3.72 points, to 3,506.57.

The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, eased 0.10 per cent, or 1.72 points, to 1,780.06.
