Singapore shares open flat on Wednesday


SINGAPORE shares opened 0.1 per cent higher on Wednesday, with the Straits Times Index up 2.85 points to 3,260.37 points as at 9.06am.

About 77.4 million shares worth S$110.2 million in total changed hands, which worked out to an average unit price of S$1.42 per share.

The most actively traded stock was Addvalue Technologies, which rose S$0.001 to S$0.059 with 8.5 million shares changing hands. Other actives included Thai Beverage and C&G Environmental Protection Holdings.

Gainers outnumbered losers 81 to 31, or about eight up for every three down.

Wall Street snapped a two-day slide to close at fresh records as technology shares rebounded from the worst drop of the year. The dollar weakened and treasuries were steady as the Federal Reserve policy meeting kicked off, reported Bloomberg.
