Singapore shares open up on Tuesday

SINGAPORE share prices opened higher on Tuesday with the Straits Times Index (STI) up 11.41 points to 3,334.47 as at 9.02am. Wall Street jumped to fresh records on Monday, boosted by bank shares that were lifted by expectations that the Federal Reserve will again increase interest rates this year.

Top gainers in early morning trade included DBS and UOB.

Some 52 million shares worth S$67.8 million changed hands, with gainers outnumbering losers 94 to 40.
