[TAIPEI] Taiwan stocks rose 0.3 per cent on Friday along with other regional bourses, but PC makers fell after Intel Corp slashed its first-quarter revenue forecast as small businesses put off upgrading their computers.

As of 0145 GMT, the main TAIEX index was at 9,626.32 points, after rising 0.8 per cent in the previous session.

Quanta Computer, Asustek Computer and Compal Electronics all shed more than 0.3 per cent, trailing the electronics sub-index's 0.5 per cent rise.

Quanta and Compal are the world's top two contract PC makers, while Asustek makes its brand computers.

The Taiwan dollar strengthened 0.322 per cent to stand at T$31.568 to the US dollar.
