Tokyo: Nikkei hits new seven-year high

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks jumped 4.01 per cent on Tuesday morning, hitting a seven-year high as the yen continued to fall after last week's move by the Bank of Japan to expand its asset-buying programme.
The Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose 657.42 points to 17,071.18 by the break, while the Topix index of all first-section issues gained 3.60 per cent, or 48.01 points, to 1,381.65.
