[TOKYO] Tokyo shares opened sharply higher on Friday mirroring a rally on Wall Street after a bounce in oil prices lifted sentiment and as a weak yen boosted exporters.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose 1.63 per cent, or 281.51 points, to 17,522.46 in opening deals, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares gained 1.50 per cent, or 21.10 points, to 1,427.65.
