Tokyo: Stocks gain but Toshiba sinks

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks gained Monday after business confidence rose for the second straight quarter, although Toshiba plunged after reports it may again delay releasing its earnings.
Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 index rose 0.39 per cent, or 73.97 points, to 18,983.23, while the Topix index of all first-section issues was up 0.29 per cent, or 4.43 points, to 1,517.03.
