Tokyo: Stocks open 0.42% higher

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened 0.42 per cent higher Thursday, following modest gains on Wall Street after falling from a three-month peak the previous day.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose 82.39 points to 19,929.97 at the start, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares gained 0.36 per cent, or 5.67 points, to 1,600.34.
