Tokyo: Stocks open flat

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened flat on Wednesday after strong gains the previous day as strong US data propped up investor confidence in the world's largest economy.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index inched up 0.04 per cent, or 8.28 points, to 19,761.59 in the first few minutes of trade while the Topix index of all first-section issues was up 0.08 per cent, or 1.30 points, at 1,617.51.
