Tokyo: Stocks open higher on Friday

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened higher on Friday, tracking rallies on Wall Street amid growing confidence in the US corporate earnings outlook and the prospects of President Donald Trump's tax cut plan.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index edged up 0.37 per cent, or 77.19 points, to 20,705.75 in early trade while the broader Topix index was up 0.32 per cent, or 5.42 points, at 1,687.91.
