Tokyo: Stocks open higher on weak yen

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened higher on Thursday with a weak yen lifting exporters while drops in oil prices weighed on energy companies.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index rose 0.43 per cent, or 81.89 points, to 19,335.92 in the first few minutes of trade while the Topix index of all first-section issues was up 0.34 per cent, or 5.32 points, at 1,555.5.
