Tokyo: Stocks open lower

[TOKYO] Tokyo stocks opened lower on Tuesday during Japan's Golden Week holiday period, as investors took to the sidelines ahead of key earnings and economic data in the US.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index edged down 0.05 per cent or 10.17 points to 22,457.7 in early trade while the broader Topix index was down 0.26 per cent or 4.6 points at 1,772.63.
