Tokyo's Nikkei jumps more than 2.5%


[TOKYO] Tokyo's benchmark Nikkei index surged more than 2.5 per cent on Friday on hopes of a potential breakthrough on a US-China trade dispute.

The Nikkei 225 index rose 2.56 per cent, or 556.01 points, to close at 22,243.66 while the broader Topix index was up 1.64 per cent, or 26.71 points, at 1,658.76.
