Uber suffers fresh blow as EU court rules it's a taxi service and not an app

The ruling by the European Court of Justice means Uber is likely to be bound by regulations such as training and licensing requirements for drivers and vehicles. The company has already had problems with the law in several European countries, particularly France.


THE European Union's (EU) top court ruled on Wednesday that Uber is an ordinary transportation company instead of an app and should be regulated as such, in a decision that will be closely watched around the world.
