Emerging stocks hit by US debt stalemate

Some 211 counters down and 136 up in the MSCI Emerging Markets Index

[HANOI] Emerging-market stocks fell from a four-month high, led by technology companies, as American lawmakers struggled over an accord to raise the US debt limit and Apple Inc suppliers tumbled.

Hon Hai Precision Industry Co slid 1.9 per cent in Taipei after KGI Securities Co cut estimates for shipments of Apple's iPhone 5C handsets. Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction Co, South Korea's only maker of nuclear reactors, tumbled the most since February after the government plans to scale back the country's reliance on atomic power. But China CNR Corp led Chinese railway shares higher in Shanghai on speculation that they may help build Thailand's high-speed rail system.
