Join the Carrè club this Weekend
Hermès fans, welcome to the club. The Carrè Club that is. One of the biggest and coolest social events by the luxury French house takes place over just four days this week, and this Friday's issue of Weekend magazine brings you the lowdown on what to expect.
We interview Bali Barret, Hermès' artistic director for its women's universe, about her idea to celebrate Hermès' iconic carrè, or silk scarf, with an inclusive, experiential event to reach out to a younger crowd, even as it gives hardcore fans a chance to see their favourite accessory in a new light. We also talk to local collectors about their fascination with scarves and how, in the bigger picture, one brand has succeeded in creating an exclusive universe that so many people want to be a part of.
We also speak to Paige Parker, a well-known socialite and wife of investment guru Jim Rogers. But in her new book, she says "Don't call me Mrs Rogers" as she talks about the life-changing - even dangerous - trip they took together before deciding she wanted to spend her life with him.
