Citigroup hires ex-Barclays's Omori for Japan equity execution
[TOKYO] Citigroup Inc hired Jon Omori, former head of sales trading at Barclays Plc in Tokyo, to lead its equity execution business in Japan.
Mr Omori joined Citigroup Global Markets Japan Inc. this week, and will be responsible for executing trades of Japanese, Asian, US and European stocks, according to an internal memo obtained by Bloomberg. Mika Nemoto, a Tokyo-based spokeswoman for Citigroup, confirmed the contents of the document.
Citigroup has been adding staff for its corporate and institutional client businesses in Japan after withdrawing from retail banking in the country last year. Mr Omori is at least the fifth major recruit in Tokyo since April.
The firm hired Ryota Himeno last month from Barclays as an analyst for the transportation sector, and recruited Takashi Hashimoto, former head of Japan equity research at the UK bank, to cover the real estate industry.
