Great American Insurance Group opens Singapore office
US-BASED Great American Insurance Group has opened its first office in Singapore and in the region.
The Singapore branch - Great American Insurance Company (GAIC) - is looking to tap the speciality insurance sector.
Particular focus areas, both onshore and offshore, include marine, general liability and professional and executive liability.
Entry into the Singapore market has enabled the company to expand its international footprint in South-east Asia, it said.
GAIC Singapore is led by a seasoned Chee Keng Koon, who brings with him more than 30 years of knowledge in the Singapore and Asian general and marine insurance markets.
"Market opportunities are abundant in Asia, particularly in the specialty classes such as marine and property, and Singapore's position as a mature, stable and substantial insurance hub makes it a natural entry point into the region," the GAIC Singapore CEO said.
