Indonesia central bank deputy gov says rupiah at competitive level
[JAKARTA] Indonesian rupiah's current exchange rate against the US dollar is at a competitive level for export of manufactured goods, Bank Indonesia's senior deputy governor, Mirza Adityaswara, said on Friday.
"From Bank Indonesia's point of view, our current exchange rate is competitive for manufactured products," said Mr Adityaswara. "But why is our export down? Because most of our exports are commodities." The rupiah traded 0.2 per cent stronger on Friday at 13,847 per dollar by 0217 GMT.
