Islamic financing well suited to Asian infrastructure: Najib

He suggests Japan be Malaysia's major partner in the setting up of Asia's Islamic financing platform

THE Islamic financing model is "eminently suited" to supplying the huge needs of Asian countries for tangible infrastructure assets, Malaysia's Prime Minister Najib Razak suggested in Tokyo on Tuesday.

He added that Japan could become a major partner with Malaysia in the setting up of an Islamic financing platform in Asia, citing the ability of this financing model to "command better terms, given its inherent asset-backed nature" as a reason its appeal is likely to rise in Asia.
