OCBC offers free wi-fi access at Orchard Road, Sports Hub and bank branches (Amended)

OCBC Bank said it will provide free public wi-fi access with 700 hotspots at multiple locations. The wi-fi hotspots are located along Orchard Road, the Singapore Sports Hub, and at 33 of its bank branches.

It said that five hotspots are located at the Orchard Road area, with one at each bus stop situated outside the Royal Thai Embassy, Tangs Plaza, Far East Plaza, Royal Plaza at Scotts, and Robinsons Heeren. Wi-fi coverage extends up to a 100-metre radius from each of these locations.

The 684 hotspots installed across the Singapore Sports Hub enable visitors at the complex to enjoy free wi-fi. The locations comprise the National Stadium, Singapore Indoor Stadium, Kallang Wave Mall, OCBC Arena, OCBC Aquatic Centre, Water Sports Centre, Sports Hub Library, Singapore Sports Museum, and the Visitors Centre.

The OCBC Centre also provides free wi-fi access to the public.

Anyone visiting OCBC Bank branches in highly-populated areas such as Ion Orchard, Causeway Point, Ang Mo Kio, Nex Shopping Mall, Toa Payoh, and Vivo City can also enjoy free wi-fi access.

OCBC said it expects more than 30,000 people a day to use its free wi-fi service.

Dennis Tan, head of consumer financial services Singapore at OCBC Bank, said: "Being at the forefront of the digital play in Singapore for the past few years, it is natural for OCBC to do our part to support the government's push for a wireless Singapore by providing this service through more than 700 OCBC free WiFi zones across town.

"By availing this free WiFi service to the public, whether you are an OCBC customer or not, we hope to entrench OCBC's leading digital position in everyone's minds."

Amendment note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly named the Singapore Sports Museum as the Sports Hub Museum. OCBC has since corrected their naming of the museum. The article above has been revised to reflect this.
