Standard Chartered currency research head said to be leaving
[SINGAPORE] Callum Henderson, the global head of foreign-exchange research at Standard Chartered Plc in Singapore, is leaving the bank, according to two people familiar with the situation.
His name no longer appears on the list of research team members on Standard Chartered's website, and messages sent to his company e-mail account were returned as invalid. Calls made to his direct line and mobile phone were unanswered.
Henderson "is currently still an employee of Standard Chartered Bank" and remains the global head of foreign-exchange research, said Tan Hsueh Mei, a Singapore-based spokeswoman for the bank.
She declined to comment on why Henderson's name was removed from the website.
The London-based lender said Nov 3 it will eliminate 15,000 jobs, or 17 per cent of its workforce, as soaring bad loans in emerging markets hurt earnings. Standard Chartered was the third European bank in less than two weeks to announce job cuts, following Deutsche Bank AG and Credit Suisse Group AG.
Henderson joined Standard Chartered in 2004 after two years at Bank of America Corp, where he was head of emerging-market research. He previously worked for four years at Citigroup Inc.
