UOB leverages its tech expertise in vigorous push into mobile payments

WITH its history of buying and integrating South-east Asian banks, UOB is an old hand at bringing different technology systems together. This knack now plays into the bank's advances in the competitive mobile-payments arena, with it having introduced digital card issuances and contactless ATMs in Singapore this week, said one of its top executives.
UOB is pushing deeper into mobile payments here and in the region, having spent S$500 million between 2011 and 2013 alone to unify its technology processes across the region.
