Wee Cho Yaw to retire from UOB board; new chairman named
He will be appointed honorary adviser; Wong Kan Seng to take over from Hsieh Fu Hua as chairman in February

WEE Cho Yaw, Singapore's most well-known name in banking, will retire from the board of United Overseas Bank, which he had steered for six decades.
Mr Wee will retire from the board at the bank's next shareholders' meeting on 20 April 2018 after six decades of dedicated service, the bank said on Thursday. It added that it has nominated former deputy prime minister Wong Kan Seng to succeed incumbent independent non-executive chairman Hsieh Fu Hua who will be retiring early next year.
