10 Japanese freight forwarders, S'pore units fined for price fixing

TEN Japanese freight forwarders and their Singapore subsidiaries or affiliates have been fined S$7.15 million (see infographic) by the Competition Commission of Singapore (CCS), the local competition watchdog, for engaging in illegal price-fixing activities, thus infringing section 34 of the Competition Act.

DHL Global Forwarding (DCF), the eleventh firm, and the single German entity involved in the activity, along with its Japanese, Singapore and Asia-Pacific subsidiaries, has been granted immunity under CCS's leniency programme, for sounding the alarm to CCS of the cartels' existence and for assisting in collecting information or evidence required to support the investigations.
