Airline shares soar in 2014, led by US carriers

WORLDWIDE airline shares shot up as much as 40 per cent last year, fuelled largely by the US carriers which saw their share prices virtually double, according to a report.

In its latest Airlines Financial Monitor, the International Air Transport Association (Iata) also said that global airline shares outperformed the broader market in December - which fell 2 per cent - by increasing 4 per cent month on month.
