'Almost impossible' to compare companies' carbon reports
Disclosures still dismal; global guidelines needed to make reporting consistent, KPMG says in study

GLOBAL reporting guidelines on carbon reporting are needed because it is "almost impossible" to make comparisons between companies at the moment, KPMG said in a study of global corporate responsibility reporting.
In general, regulatory pressure has raised the rate of corporate responsibility reporting around the world, but the quality of disclosures remains dismal, according to the study.
The study took a particularly close look at how companies disclosed their impact on carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas that is exacerbates global warming.
