AVIATION electronic solutions provider Rockwell Collins is banking on new products and services, as well as promising markets, to fuel its growth in Asia as it seeks to cater to evolving trends in the aviation industry.
"Over the years, the opening up of the markets, and the way the different parts of Asia has grown in terms of GDP (gross domestic product), has seen this increase in the need for travel," pointed out Heament John Kurian, managing director (Asia-Pacific) for Rockwell Collins. "The growth of the low-cost carriers has helped also in terms of the mobility of people (for) leisure."
In addition, the significant amount of trade passing through the region is also allowing the aviation industry to expand. According to the International Air Transport Association, Asia-Pacific singularly accounts for the biggest chunk of the air freight market at roughly 40 per cent. Meanwhile, the relentless jockeying among Asia airports to achieve and maintain "hub" status, coupled with the rapidly expanding commercial airline fleets across the region, are fuelling growth for the firm. Rising affluence levels in the region is also translating to a bigger fleet of business jets, which in turn is catalysing the demand for customised services on such aircraft.
